We have arrived at the Sinnoh starters with the Community Days, and while I was not as excited about this one as with Ralts, I never say no to raised shiny rates.
We ended up taking the easy route, getting into D’s car and driving around to the Pokéstops. Not because we were feeling lazy exactly, but because there was a slight drizzle and it was quite windy. We both have stubborn colds since coming back from vacation and didn’t want to risk making it worse.
From the get-go, I was pleasantly surprised by the high spawn rates, especially when comparing to the past few Community Days, where there has been so much other stuff spawning that you are not looking for at that moment. Spawns were quite plentiful, and we caught 100+ Turtwig each during 2½ hours. Honestly, I was surprised by how many there were! We did manage to get a lucky trade done in the hour after the event ended, so we got one each that was worth evolving for the legacy move because honestly, we didn’t even catch one each that was above two stars in stats, which was a little disappointing.
In the end, I came away with two shinies on my main account and one on my small side account, so after getting that traded over I will have the full evolution line. That is always my goal with shinies, so that was a pretty good outcome. The only downside is the cost of stardust for the trade since my small account is new enough that it is nowhere close to being Best Friends with my main account. D got the Community Day spawn luck and managed to find four shiny Turtwig, surprising both of us. I had shiny luck that I wasn’t expecting though. I was running an incense and managed to snag a golden Swablu while we were turtle-hunting! Not kidding, that was the highlight of my day! The stats were complete rubbish, but I can live with that because it is golden.
On top of the wild spawns, I came home with a Shadow Turtwig to complete the set, marking it as a rather successful Community Day in my opinion.
But it seems like I have gotten into the habit of getting one extra shiny on Community Days. Last time it was Rayquaza (of which I have gotten a second one since then by the way), and this time it was Swablu. What is it going to be next time?
