The book
October 1st is upon us, and I admit to devouring the Audiobook version of Threshing Day in the past two days.
Since it is still so new, I will steer clear of spoilers, but I loved getting a few new perspectives on this pivotal day in a cadet’s life.
My absolute favorite one was Ridoc’s, to the surprise of no one who knows me, and I would happily read an entire book just about him and Aotrom bantering and pulling tricks on each other and others. He definitely needs more pagetime.
But of course, there was pain hiding among those trees as well, and while Liam’s chapter was bittersweet, Sloane’s all but broke me. It really reminded me how fresh and raw her grief and anger were at that point. At her time of Threshing, we are talking months, and it shows. I’m not even that fond of Sloane, but I found myself wanting to give her a hug.
The website
So, Rebecca Yarros launched a website today, and it has my brain tingling all kinds of ways. I have been inside, I have my designated squad (Third Wing, Claw Section, Third Squad) and will be doing my Threshing as soon as I get off work. Wish me luck! I might even make a Threshing Day story of my own, we’ll see.
Until then, see you on the flight field!
